JANUARY 7, 2019 AND GOING FORWARD

It is January and we have no snow as of this date.  I am going to be out of town for most of the next couple of months, so if ASP gets enough snow to ski, it will be up to y’all to add a comment to this post to report on conditions.

  1. Very nice conditions on Sweetwater and Christian this morning. Quite a few people out. Hopefully they are able to groom tomorrow after the snow lets up. If so, it will be great Sunday and Monday!

  2. We tracked the upper trails this a.m. Still a couple difficult spots on Leonard. Sweet and Christian are very good. Better when more people ski. 29 degrees at the Summit at noon. Enjoy!

  3. 1/15. Track is fairly fast and icy in spots on Sweetwater and Christian. Very skiable. Would not recommend Leonard. Too many bad spots. Might be even faster Wed. due to freezing rain in a.m.

  4. We did Leonard Sunday 1/13 and it was very good in most places. There were spots that are frozen wet areas but not enough to spoil a good ski! We used waxless touring skis but probably green wax with kicker of blue would have worked.
A beautiful day to ski Art Roscoe.

  5. Echo Scott C post 1/13. On 1/12 Leonard was very marginal. Quit without trying Sweetwater or CH. Just not enough snow. Park staff gave it their best. Cold temps forecast for a couple weeks, hopefully snow too.

  6. Echo Scott C post 1/13. On 1/12 Leonard was very marginal. Quit without trying Sweetwater or CH. Just not enough snow. Park staff gave it their best. Cold temps forecast for a couple weeks, hooefully snow snow too.

  7. Be very careful on Leonard unless you are okay with ice and dirt. Don’t take your good skis! Many icy/dirt spots on the northern half of the loop, but the southern half is pretty good.

If you don’t need a set track and speed, Ridge Run out past Leonard was rolled, but not tracked and for at least the first 3/4 miles I went on there were no sticks to hit or wet/icy spots. Nice job by park staff with the snow we have. Hope for more soon!

  8. Be careful of the spring area 300 yards down Christian Hollow loop going counterclockwise as it is very icy and partly open water. Otherwise that loop was pretty good, with a few spots of leaves and ice.

  9. As said, 3 upper trails tracked. Blue extra worked well. Not a ton of snow. A couple bad spots on Leonard but doable. Conditions very good for amount of snow. Beautiful, snow-laden trees.

  10. Skied all 3 upper loops Fri morning. It’s been groomed and mostly tracked. Decent conditions with a some thin/icy areas but worth a trip to ski.

  11. Trails had been rolled today and the report says they will be tracked Friday AM. Hooray, we have some skiing again!

  12. The plan is for trails to be groomed tomorrow, 1/11, in the a.m.. Do not know what form or how extensive. Should be skiable tomorrow p.m.
